Goa is lucky to have an abundance of seafood. As a result, seafood is the predominant food for all Goans. Squids, often referred to as ‘mankyo’ in Goa, are a famous fish that is served in every Goan house and restaurant. It serves as a starter and or a side dish in a normal Goan thali.
Goan stuffed squids with prawns are the finest example of Goan coastal cuisine. This dish is rich & flavourful with delicate squids, packed with prawn cafreal. In all kinds of ways, prawns enhance the filling. Their inherent sweetness balances the mild flavour of squid, and their delicate texture makes each mouthful more enjoyable. The stuffing, with fresh green coriander and fragrant spices, is moist, tasty and incredibly aromatic.
We may choose whichever filling we wish to make Goan styled stuffed squids. Filling is normally made from the squid tentacles; however, tiny prawns or stuffing prepared from vegetables and spices are sometimes used. You can do a lot with the squids, filled, butter garlic, Rava fried, or a chilli fry.
I love trying out new spices, condiments and masala pastes. That’s why I made these tasty stuffed squid with a Goan twist, using well-known Goan cafreal masala for the filling. Cafreal is a dish that came to the region during Portuguese rule. if you are interested in making chicken Carfreal, you can find the recipe here,
